Job Summary

Under supervision of the Bayfront Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Medical Assistants assist in the delivery of care to patients in the Bayfront ambulatory group practices.  Work includes a performing and assisting with a variety of clinical procedures, reconciling patient’s medications and communicating health care maintenance reminders to assure positive care outcomes. S/he will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary or specialty care services provided to patients within the practices.   S/he is required to learn and be able to assist in all of the Heart & Vascular Services including Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, CT surgery, Pre Heart & Lung Transplant and Mechanical Support Services.  S/he is required to adhere to the Living Pride Standards and Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program
  • One year of experience working in a healthcare setting
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Experience working in a busy clinic setting
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual/multilingual
  • California State CPT-1 certification
  • Experience with insurance verification, medical record data abstraction or patient financial services
  • One year of Medical Assisting (MA) experience

License/Certification

  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Current Medical Assisting certification
