The Medical Assistant will perform various administrative and clinical duties in our busy practice to assist Health Services in operating efficiently and providing high quality care to the undergraduate and graduate students of Babson College and the Olin College of Engineering. The Medical Assistant will work directly with the Office Manager, the Director of Health Services, the healthcare providers, and students.
Health Services is part of the Student Success Portfolio in the Division of Learner Success and Campus Life, which also includes Accessibility Services, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Religious & Spiritual Life, Student Advising & Success, Wellness & Prevention Services, the Peers On Wellness (POW) peer health education program, and the Campus Assessment, Response, & Evaluation (CARE) Team.

Administrative Duties
- Assists the Office Manager in triaging phone calls, greeting patients, and scheduling appointments.
- Performs reception duties that includes scanning, copying, faxing, closing procedures, etc.
- Assists the Office Manager in monitoring and responding to the Health Services email account and in distributing health insurance cards.
- Assists the Director and the immunization compliance nurse in ensuring the College’s compliance with Massachusetts’s immunization regulation and Federal OSHA standards regarding risk exposure.
- Assists the Director in maintaining medical supply inventory, expiration dates, and placing orders for new materials as needed.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
Clinical Duties
- Supports the medical providers as needed by performing basic point of care laboratory tests, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, administering immunizations, and assisting with basic medical exams as directed by licensed clinical staff.
- Assists the Director in ensuring completeness and accuracy of medical records; monitoring patient referrals, documenting all patient encounters in the medical records.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instruments and rooms as needed.
- Monitors and stocks exam room supplies.
- Performs weekly and monthly office equipment safety checks and calibration.
- Maintains and monitors student prescription medications delivered to Health services.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Prefer 1-2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant but will consider a new graduate.
Must maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with health care regulations
Must have current CPR certification
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills
Must have a basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, and clinical pharmacology
Ability to administer medications including administering injections
Must have excellent phlebotomy skills
Must have technical experience including experience working with EMR systems
Must be comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Must be able to stand or sit for long periods
May require occasional heavy lifting
May require participation in health events outside of the health center such as flu clinics, student wellness fairs, and Health Services tabling events
Requires work onsite 5 days a week; the on-campus requirement is subject to modification based on organizational need.
