Media Technology Specialists provide valuable technical support to our faculty in support of Harvard Business School's (HBS) mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.

The Media Technology Specialist is responsible for supporting a wide range of cutting-edge audiovisual technologies across campus to facilitate the teaching, learning, and administrative needs of the community. This includes supporting over 250 audiovisual-enabled classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums, and other convening spaces spread across 35 campus buildings. The Media Technology Specialist is aligned with the AV Operations team within Media Services, whose focus is on providing audiovisual solutions and support that meet campus needs in hybrid and non-hybrid environments.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic, quick-learner who possesses superior interpersonal and communication skills, has significant experience supporting enterprise audiovisual systems and web & video conferencing, and shows maturity, accountability, and professionalism throughout their work efforts. They will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess superior maturity, professionalism, and judgment.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support faculty, staff, and students endeavors through troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and in-person and remote assistance
  • Develop key customer relationships to ensure exemplary service 
  • Monitor audiovisual systems and processes
  • Monitor and measure system AV reliability by tracking incident trends
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
  • At least three years’ relevant work experience is required

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following are preferred:

  • Background in higher-education and/or large corporate environments
  • Knowledge of digital signage systems
  • Ability and desire to capture and maintain accurate technical documentation and knowledge management content
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and IT Service Management (ITSM)
  • Experience with Crestron Fusion software 

Certificates and Licenses

The following are preferred:

  • CTS certification
  • Crestron DMC-D/E-4k certification

Working Conditions

  • Additional support outside of regularly scheduled hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holiday breaks, will occasionally be required    
  • Must be accessible by personal cell phone during business hours, and occasionally off-hours; phone stipend will be provided   
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and stairs; must be able to individually lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds, and up to 100 pounds with others 
  • This is considered an “On-Campus Critical Position”: The employee is required to report to campus to their normal work location (or an alternate site if necessary) for non-deferrable work during an emergency closure or curtailment. An employee serving in an on-campus critical position may have to report to work even if the emergency closure occurs during a time that they are not regularly scheduled to work.  

Additional Information

This role is offered as an onsite position where you are required to be primarily onsite at our Boston, MA-based campus. Specific schedule will be determined between you and your manager. This is a 40 hours/week, overtime-eligible position.
