Salary Information Salary is dependent on experience with a minimum of $39,270.00.
Department Summary
As the most-used service on campus and an essential component of education and research at the University of North Texas, the Libraries offer access to more than 6 million items (print and digital) along with expert personnel to assist patrons in achieving their academic and scholarly goals. We provide innovative programs and support to enhance the relationship between teaching and learning at the University of North Texas.
The Media Library contains the UNT Libraries’ non-print, audiovisual, tabletop games, and video games collections. The Media Library also has The Nest , which is an e-sports and game design space. The mission of the UNT Media Library is to support the instructional and research needs of UNT faculty, staff, and students by collecting, maintaining, and providing access to media materials that represent all academic disciplines and all genres of film.

Position Overview
The Games and Circulation Manager supervises the functional operation of gaming spaces in the Media Library. Identifies and resolves complex problems related to technology, provides technical support and information services for game collections and spaces, coordinates equipment repairs and purchases. Supervises a special project student and supervises projects for student assistants at the service desk. Trains student assistants and full-time staff on supporting patrons and troubleshooting in the gaming spaces, develops, plans, and documents policies and procedures. Collects usage statistics for reports to library administration. Assists the Games and Education Librarian with developing, processing, and assessing the game collection and assigned accounts.
This position reports to the Games and Education Librarian.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and three years of progressively responsible full-time library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Expert knowledge of library principles and policies and extensive knowledge of specialized area functions and workflows.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Evidence in working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
• Verified ability to utilize multiple computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and independent decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • Experience working in an academic library setting, preferably with video or game collections.
  • Library service desk or library systems management experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting PC/console issues and setting up equipment.
  • Knowledge of video, games (tabletop and digital), and media equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing detail-oriented projects.
  • Experience successfully working in a collaborative/team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive and productive working relationships within the Libraries’ and with external partners.
  • Willingness to acquire new skills in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of word- processing and spreadsheet software.

Job Duties


o
Manages the gaming spaces in the Media Library including identifying and resolving complex problems related to technology. Coordinates reservations, bookings, and programs with campus and library partners.
o
Supervises the special projects student assistant, determining procedures and processes for maintaining the space and gaming equipment.
o
Contributes to collection development and manages aspects of Media Library collection maintenance including accounts, inventory management, repairs, discards, and replacement of materials.
o
Participates in outreach and developing programs for the game space and collections including engagement through Discord and social media.
