Position Summary

The McAuley School of Nursing is part of the College of Health Professions and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Undergraduate tracks include traditional and second degree options. Graduate offerings include the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) exit tracks for family nurse practitioner, adult gerontology clinical nurse specialist,  and post-graduate emergency nurse practitioner. The Master’s Entry Advance Generalist (MEAGN), offers prelicensure preparation at the master’s level. Since 2016 the MSN and DNP programs have been ranked in the U.S. News and World Report (March 2021) “Best Graduate Schools Ranking.”
 

The McAuley School of Nursing invites applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Nursing. These 9-month positions seek highly motivated educators for our undergraduate and/or graduate programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated an active program of scholarship, and evidence of excellence in teaching university-level academic nursing as well as nursing roles in one or more of these priority areas: fundamentals, medical/surgical, pathophysiology and pharmacology. This position will support nursing programs on our NcNichols and Novi campuses.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The McAuley School of Nursing seeks innovative scholars with demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship in nursing and/or related field. The successful candidates will make significant contributions to our undergraduate and/or graduate programs in integrating the intellectual, spiritual, ethical and social development of our students. These full-time, tenure-track faculty positions with a full teaching load each semester may include classroom, clinical, and online instruction.


Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (PhD or DNP) or a doctoral degree in a closely related discipline and graduate degree in nursing preferred.
  • Michigan RN license or ability to obtain as well as applicable national nursing certification.
  • Relevant RN practice experience as indicated in the position summary.
  • Relevant practice experience as an APRN for select positions.
  • Commitment to contribute to clinical learning.

Preferred Qualifications  

Preference will be given to candidates to have a record of experience and demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarship. Simulation and recent clinical experience.


Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 15 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping.


Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a standard office and classroom. Environment subject to change pending semester workload and inclusion/exclusion of clinical site to consideration of environment.


Licenses/Certifications

Michigan RN license or ability to obtain as well as applicable national nursing certification.


Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience

The appointment begins August 2024
