UMass Global's full-time faculty's responsibilities include teaching, mentoring, and service. Research activities are supported but not required. All faculty positions are non-tenure track, primarily hired as Assistant Professor; however, a higher rank may be considered if appropriate. UMass Global offers competitive salaries with generous benefits.      

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Doctoral degree in social work or related field.
  • At least five years of post-master’s social work practice experience, preferably in an administrative or leadership position.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic partnerships and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding of national hiring trends and funding opportunities for social worker recruitment, training, and employment.
  • Experience in online instruction and curriculum development.
  • Interest in continuously exploring new technology.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders both internally at UMass Global as well as in the social service, health, and educational environments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in social work, including professional development and curriculum standards.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Experience building partnerships, writing successful grants, or business development.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentoring.
  • Experience in teaching research and statistics.
  • Familiarity with generalist and advanced generalist curriculum.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in ADEI practices.
  • Experience teaching adult learners in a college environment.
  • Effective record of innovation integrating curriculum and practice with appropriate technologies.
  • Knowledge of UMass Global policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Social Work Partnerships and Workforce Solutions is pivotal in fostering and maintaining relationships with social service entities, school districts, and healthcare organizations to enhance and support Social Work Program initiatives and enrollments. In close coordination with the partnerships team, the Director serves as a liaison between the Social Work programs and external stakeholders, working with agency and school administrators and community leaders to identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on social work education and contribute to advancing the university’s mission.

This 12-month position also includes shared responsibility for curricular administration of the Master of Social Work Program. The MSW program serves many first-generation students, military students, and students in groups underrepresented in academia. This position is expected to work and teach online rather than from a physical campus. Specific key responsibilities include the following:

1.  Develop and implement a strategic outreach plan to engage with social service entities, school districts, and healthcare organizations nationally.

2.  Build and maintain relationships with schools, healthcare or governmental and non-governmental agencies, and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership.  This includes various types of grants and scholarships.

3.  Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and events to promote the Social Work programs.

4.  Serve as a resource for partners, providing information and support related to social worker preparation, professional development, and other relevant areas.

5.  Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including admissions, enrollment, financial aid, extended education, faculty, staff, and administrators, to align outreach efforts with the Social Work programs’ goals and priorities.

6.  Collect and analyze data on social service needs, trends, and challenges to inform program development and resource allocation.

7. Represent the Social Work programs at conferences, meetings, and community events to enhance visibility and strengthen relationships with external partners.

8.  Stay informed about local, state, and national social service policies, initiatives, and best practices to effectively advocate for partners' needs.

Pay Range:

Assistant Professor Pay Scale: $80,000 - $87,500 based on education and experience.

Associate Professor Pay Scale: $83,500 - $99,000 based on education and experience.
