Position Summary
Participates in the design, execution, and interpretation of functional genomic experiments. The Pagliarini Lab at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking mass spectrometrist to assist with mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics applications for exploring mitochondrial biology. In particular, we are interested in candidates with ample experience in designing and executing proteomics and metabolomics experiments, preferably with Thermo Fisher Orbitrap-based instruments, including: sample preparation, assay development, instrumentation care and troubleshooting, database searching, and knowledge of software interfaces. https://pagliarinilab.org
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs expression proteomics using one- and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), solution isoelectric focusing and stable isotropic-based methods (e.g., epitope-tagging, tandem affinity and immunosuppression techniques).
- Performs protein identification of complex peptide mixtures using tandem mass spectrometry coupled to multidimensional capillary HPLC Evaluates new technologies and applies to major, campus-wide research projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Training in biological sciences and/or with prior experience engaging in collaborative biological projects.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in chemistry or related area with fou years of practical experience in the characterization of peptides and proteins using tandem mass spectrometry.

Salary Range
$47,000.00 - $85,200.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
