We’re currently searching for a Marketing Manager to join our Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the VT Rec Sports team; a department centered on promoting student well-being, sport and fitness by providing excellent programs and facilities for the University community.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Assistant Director for Marketing and Communications, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) You’ll be responsible for promoting physical activity, well-being, recreational program involvement, membership, inclusion, recreation facilities, and services.
4) You'll oversee the day-to-day execution of the marketing plan to coordinate the department’s promotional materials, publications, websites, and social media and serving as the administrator for social media, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Spotify.
5) You'll supervise a team of student employees including marketing and media supervisors, creative services assistants and graphic designers. This will involve: hiring, training, scheduling, managing payroll, and evaluating performance.
6) You'll be responsible for fulfilling activations and fulfillment of sponsorship and partnership agreements, assessing the effectiveness of marketing efforts, managing a budget, creating content and website maintenance.
7) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
8) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $48,000-$53,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, or related field; and/or equivalent related experience.
• Experience with marketing, public relations and/or advertising experience that includes areas such as implementing a marketing plan, creating promotional materials and/or publications (such as: brochures, flyers, press releases, t-shirt designs, etc)
• Previous experience using a content management system to produce and post web content;
• Previous experience managing or contributing to a professional social media account
• Excellent communication skills and professional writing skills with strong editing and organizational skills.
• Experience with current computer software such as desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Suite) and database management.
• Commitment to promoting well-being, diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising or related field.
• Previous work experience in a recreation or sports management environment
• Understanding of data analytics to create reports and infographics
• Demonstrated skill in photography, videography and/or editing video/photo
• Previous supervisory experience
