Job Summary
The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine is seeking an energetic, independent, and detail-oriented Marketing Specialist and Event Coordinator to design, coordinate and execute a wide range of marketing responsibilities. The successful candidate will have experience creating high-quality organic social media content and developing successful campaigns.
The individual will utilize their good judgment and strong interpersonal skills to plan and execute both internal and external facing marketing strategies. They will plan, coordinate, and successfully execute special events including social activities, conferences, educational seminars, receptions, etc.

Responsibilities
Marketing & Communication:
  • Develop and execute marketing/communication plans by utilizing traditional and electronic publishing technologies.
  • Conduct in-depth marketing research to develop a marketing strategy and budget.
  • Develop and communicate department information on various projects to its stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for monitoring effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjusting communication plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Department and other clientele to conceptualize on various projects.
  • Proofread all communications and monitors media.
  • Develop written content that advances the Department’s communications and marketing strategies to key constituencies, including alumni and donors. Written content includes direct mail, emails, web content such as news stories, profiles/features, promotional/marketing copy, press releases/media advisories, newsletters, etc.
  • Develop and adheres to project timelines.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies, create and share engaging content, optimizing company pages, moderating user-generated content, analyzing social data, and collaborating with other stakeholders.
  • Manage all social media platforms for the Department, including content creation and creation of a daily/weekly/annual social media calendar.
  • Ensures that distributed material is accurate and timely

  • Event Coordination:

  • Maintain a financial accounting and cost analysis report for each individual event. May monitor financial records for donations and grants.
  • Manage events on-site and provide assistance to attendees and faculty members.
  • Assist supervisors in evaluating program effectiveness and making adjustments for future events.
  • Respond to questions and phone calls from event participants, faculty members, etc.
  • Make travel arrangements for visitors.
  • Maintain files, records and a computer database on event details and participants.
  • Make physical arrangements such as scheduling, catering, creating advertising materials, transportation, ordering event supplies and equipment, compiling course materials, etc.
  • May participate in the preparation of accreditation reports and reviews.
  • May oversee the activities of clerical support staff as they relate to specific events.
  • May manage office supplies and equipment and act as a liaison with vendors.
  • Create and manage high-quality organic social media content related to the event.
  • Execute a comprehensive marketing plan, monitoring campaign budgets.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree English, Journalism, Communications, or related field plus 3 years of related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills; familiarity with a variety of computer software; project management and strong interpersonal skills; ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
    Some areas may require additional experience with specific computer systems and may require skills in interviewing, ad copy writing, editing, photography, web writing, graphic design, audio & video production, and oral presentation.
    Master’s degree in a related field may be preferred.
    Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

    Proven success in creating and managing digital marketing campaigns.
    Strong working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point for correspondence, spreadsheets, forms, etc.
    Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, set priorities and handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
    Demonstrated organizational ability, creativity, and strong attention to detail.
    Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships and actively contribute as a member of working teams to achieve results.
