Job Description
MARKETING ASSOCIATE, MIT Press, to coordinate communications and marketing projects at the direction of the manager of advertising and promotions, implementing advertising, email marketing, website marketing, and promotional campaigns on behalf of MIT Press books, journals, and institutional products. Responsibilities include carrying out trade book campaigns for top seasonal titles across paid and content marketing teams; creating and coordinating graphic design materials, deliverables, and responsibilities between internal team(s) and occasional outside freelancers and design agencies; placing ads on digital platforms and media outlets; implementing email and direct mail campaigns; coordinating the exchange advertising program for MIT Press journals; communicating appropriate specifications for print and web projects; researching and negotiating mailing lists; tracking data and metrics, analyzing trends, and making recommendations based on results; tracking budget for advertising and promotions and submitting invoices and purchase orders; updating title management and marketing planning systems; contributing to departmental reports; participating in marketing meetings; and performing additional duties to support advertising and promotions for all products as requested.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; three years of administrative and/or sales/marketing experience; experience working with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment; experience with Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); excellent organizational, proofreading, analytical, and written and oral communication skills; attention to detail; self-motivation; and ability to multitask and adhere to strict budgets and schedules. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree in marketing, publishing, or similar major; working knowledge of website editing through WordPress or other tools; familiarity with e-mail distribution software; and familiarity with Airtable, FileMaker Pro, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
