Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Marine Sciences Educator - Fort Pierce, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach field and lab activities for 9th-12th grade St. Lucie County students enrolled in environmental science, biology, chemistry, marine science, and physics classes for approximately 9 months each year. Clean and reset lab spaces between 3 class periods a day from 7 am until 3 p.m.

  • Assist with the delivery of an afterschool program one day a week from September to April.

  • Assist with preparations and delivery of laboratories for the FAU Harbor Branch Semester By The Sea program.  

  • Lead summer camp sessions for approximately 4 weeks.

  • Maintain lab and field equipment.

  • Order needed supplies.

  • Aid with maintaining a safe and clean workplace in compliance with FAU and HBOI safety and dive safety programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Science Education, or related field; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Marine Science, Environmental Science, Science Education, or related field and two years of experience required.
Experience in Science education at the K-12 level required.
Excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team required.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to work outside of regular hours when necessary.

Salary:

$40,000 - $45,000 per year.
Exempt Administrative, Managerial, Professional (AMP)
