UITS Operations & Infrastructure

This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure.  The Columbus State University (CSU) University Information Technology Services (UITS) team is seeking a Manager of Infrastructure and Network Operations with a commitment to service and excellence to join the Network Infrastructure & Operations team. In this role, you will work alongside the Senior Manager of Infrastructure to lead a diverse and talented team by solving multidimensional information technology problems, improving customer experience, ensuring information security, and generating value for our stakeholders across a broad base of locations and constituencies. The position reports to the Senior Manager of Infrastructure.

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Serve as the subject matter expert by leading network planning, design, implementation, and optimization initiatives.; Manage the operations for Network switching, Network infrastructure, Network sensors, Wireless access, Network access controllers, DHCP, Construction site planning, and on-site infrastructure coordination.; Manage the operations of Campus firewalls, DDoS, load balancers, and security analyzers.; Conceptualize and implement network architecture by identifying business requirements, designs, prototypes, testing activities, and training.; Develop overall network standards, guidelines, leading-edge practices, and approved network techniques and approaches.; Supervise the modeling and planning of networks while maximizing network efficiencies.; Evaluate and recommend effective products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet architectural and business requirements.; Lead and mentor team members.; Lead team in troubleshooting and diagnostics for network problems.; Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises, and testing, as well as actual disasters or emergency events, by working in collaboration with security and other teams to create and maintain a secure infrastructure.; Contribute to the organization's network vision and goals.; Anticipate customer pain points, challenges, and needs. Identify business value opportunities for customers, partners, and key stakeholders in administrative and academic units.; Adapt quickly to new situations, changing priorities, and disruptive technologies.; Contribute information security architecture planning and operational best practices working collaboratively with the CISO, CIO, and other team members.; Promote a culture of information security across the Network team.; Provide regular, up-to-date status and metric reports for all aspects of performance measurement.; Work effectively with the senior UITS leaders.; Embrace and promote the project management practice in the team by setting an exemplary example.; Lead and manage a team of highly technical team members; create a professional growth plan for each member.; Lead and support team members in the processes for innovation and continuous improvement by leveraging the latest industry knowledge.; Contribute to an inclusive environment that values differences by building and maintaining collaborative relationships with team members, peers, UITS leaders, and actively embody UITS values and behaviors, including accountability, ethics, and best-in-class customer service.; Contribute to a culture of trust and transparency by sharing information broadly, openly, and deliberately.; Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

The candidate for the position of Manager of Infrastructure and Network Operations must meet the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, computer information systems, etc., or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.; Four years of experience in one of the following fields: network engineering or network architecture.; Strong working knowledge of LAN, WAN, MAN, wireless, VoIP, and cloud networking protocols.; Experience architecting scalable, diverse, and complex networks.; Expert understanding of server architecture, system administration, and security.; Ability to create presentation materials, generate reports, and present to appropriate stakeholders, including leadership.; Ability to explain advanced concepts to engineers, peers, and leadership.; Ability to collaborate across a large and diverse organization and effectively communicate or negotiate with others.; Experience working in a project-based environment, including the ability to report on project status, evaluate project risks, and escalate project issues.; Experience working with a software development life cycle (SDLC) model.; Experience with risk analysis frameworks.

The annualized salary range for this position is $65,468- $77,000 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Experience leading a highly technical IT team.; Preferred 10 years of IT leadership experience.; Knowledge with Microsoft SQL, PHP, Java, or similar scripting language desired.; Experience in ITIL, COBIT and other infrastructure and security related frameworks desired.; Knowledge in managing budget and procurements.; Experience with technical project management.; Excellent verbal and written communications.; Sound knowledge of network protocols, standards, and security measures.
