Job Description:


Under the general direction of the Vice President for Facilities and Economic Development, the Manager of Economic Development Initiatives will be responsible for the development and strategic growth of the Economic Development team, including assistance in developing UT Dallas strategic property. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance in support of economic development initiatives aimed at attracting, retaining, and assisting businesses as they expand into the region.

Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, or a related field. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in economic development, community development, and/or diversification, human resource management, government relations, or a closely related field.

Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning, or a related field.
  • Eight years of increasingly responsible experience in economic development, community development, and/or diversification, human resource management, government relations, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of management/ supervisory experience.
  • Skilled in delivering presentations, organization and time management, computers and applicable software, customer service, event coordination, research and analysis, and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, negotiate agreements, evaluate programs and recommend actions, read and comprehend legal documents, development agreements and contracts, draft and implement policies, establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Ability to oversee, review and comprehend the data collection and analysis of economic development data as reviewed through systems including R, Stata, SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, and others.
