The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) - Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Campus Safety Technology & Strategist.

The Center for Information Technology Services (CITS) is the central information technology organization for UMB. PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of multi-departmental systems used by public safety, emergency management, facilities, and environmental health and safety. This includes incident management systems, crisis communication platforms, and data analysis tools. Technologies maintained will include but are not limited to body cameras, CAD, camera systems and CCTV integration, blue light emergency phones, license plate readers, access control and visitor management systems, panic alarms, mobile data terminals, police and campus radio systems, and GTRI/Radiological Alarms.
  • Evaluate current system architecture and investigate new and different ways to increase overall capabilities through improvements to existing solutions and the implementation of new technology or programmatic solutions.
  • Serve as project leader and chief implementer for strategic enhancements to the campus multi-departmental systems from concept phase through finished product.
  • Develop, contextualize and deliver insightful and actionable research content for University leadership on a variety of topics, sector-specific IT solutions, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and implement education programs and awareness tools used to educate users on the proper procedures for utilizing existing and new software.
    Analyze and evaluate departmental operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement through auditing, review, or assessment.
  • Recognize system deficiencies and implements effective solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, Computer Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree in information technology or public safety field preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience developing and implementing safety projects and programs or related experience. Prior experience working in a justice and public safety department is preferred.

Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of work coordination, responsibility for training, monitoring the work of others, and/or direct supervision.

Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement.

Salary Range: $125,000-$140,000 per year (commensurate with education and experience)
