Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of experience in installation, management and maintenance of large-scale enterprise data and telecommunication networks. Network experience must include Cisco IOS, LAN/WAN, and remote access technologies. An equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.

The University of South Alabama’s Computer Services Center is seeking to hire a Manager, Data Networks. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions


These are the job duties required of the position.


Essential Functions
  • Manages the technologies, staff resources, and processes associated with day-to-day configuring, implementing, maintaining and upgrading USA’s data networks, systems, and services.
  • Possesses extensive knowledge and experience in routing & switching, fiber optic networks, network protocols, wireless technologies, internet, and telecommunication services.
  • Maintains proficiency in network design, management, and support of data and voice interconnectivity, systems, applications, maintenance, including network security, JPS, firewalls, VPN, encryption, network & wireless management systems, and authentication systems, to support 24 hour operations.
  • Coordinates with Telecommunications and Technical Services for the installation of data and
  • telecommunication services, equipment, and fiber optic network infrastructure.
  • Supports USA’s data center and disaster recovery site networks.
  • Manages relationships with internal clients and external vendors.
  • Supervises departmental employees to include assigning duties, checking work, and approving time off.
  • Directs special projects as necessary.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as assigned and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
