Position Summary

The mission of Columbia Health is to advance the well-being of the Columbia University community and the personal and academic development of students.  Columbia Health on the Morningside campus provides services to the Morningside schools (including affiliates) with select services also provided on the Medical Center campus.   Our team has more than 150 individuals, including medical providers, therapists, psychiatrists, disability specialists, health promotion specialists, nutritionists, peer counselors, support staff, and administrative professionals.

  THIS IS A SIX (6) MONTH TEMPORARY POSITION. 


Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Director, Alice! Health Promotion, Columbia Health, the Manager, Contact Tracing (COVID-19) works in collaboration with the Columbia University Contact Tracing Program as part of the institutional COVID-19 response. 
  • The Manager will oversee this initiative to support the isolation and quarantine of individuals.
  • The Manager will oversee contact tracers who will conduct COVID-19 case interviews (if cases discloses their diagnosis) and contact tracing, including gathering confidential information about a case, relevant contacts, notifying and educating contacts during an interview. 
  • Provide contacts with information about NYS isolation and quarantine procedures.  
  • The Manager will ensure that Contact Tracers follow all scripts, policies and procedures provided through training.
  • Ensures compliance with training regarding handling of confidential information and periodically evaluates and provides refresher training to Contact Tracers. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ related experience required.  Experience in a public health or health program, in a supervisory capacity preferred.  

  • Must satisfactory complete the online COVID-19 Contact Tracing Training Program;

  • Ability to be respectful, sensitive to and understanding of the diverse perspectives of individuals including contact tracers.

  • Proficiency in navigating computer systems; ability to learn new data systems quickly and to comply with data integrity and security to safeguard all personal identifiable information.

  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, positive attitude and work ethic.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds during a time of crisis and distress.

  • Ability to show empathy and be nonjudgmental toward distressed individuals.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Critical thinking and sound judgment.

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English. 

  • A nursing or master’s degree in health-related field is desirable but not required.


    Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in languages other than English a plus.
