Manager, Annual Giving 

Description

 

The Manager, Annual Giving will secure new, renew, or increase funding from individuals through direct mail and on-line giving campaigns, special events and special projects when appropriate. Perform research and collaborate with University of Houston Systems (UHS) Annual Giving Team to develop target audiences, track progress, and report on activities for the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL). Participate in professional workshops to improve annual giving trends, strategies and pivot as needed to increase funds for UHCL initiatives. Identify opportunities for successful outreach to donors and systematize annual giving operations. The Manager will collaborate with University Advancement colleagues to create and maximize giving opportunities.

Duties:

  • Develop and execute annual giving schedule for solicitations and acknowledgement processes, report on outcomes, and work to ensure consistency year after year.
  • Synchronize messaging across channels (print, email, online) as strategy takes form.
  • Work with Division leadership to develop revenue goals for the fiscal year. Help establish benchmarks and regular reporting processes to measure results of all annual fund activities.
  • Develop and manage acknowledgment processes for donor gifts including Gift Clubs; resolve receipting issues independently and in collaboration with other team members.
  • Gain proficiency with the alumni/donor CRM and its reporting functions; Learn and utilize other appropriate digital platforms for giving and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Work with UHCL Marketing and Communications and UH-System Annual Giving to update annual giving pages, communications, and other digital functions.
  • Build relationships with members of the UH-System Annual Giving Team, stay informed on changes to Annual Giving systems, and communicate processes to the University Advancement team.
  • Acquire, maintain, and improve Annual Giving approaches through professional training and coaching members of the University Advancement development team and perform related duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Three years of fundraising experience directly working with fundraising solicitation development.
  • Demonstrate analytical/assessment and fundraising skills as well as the ability to recognize opportunities, identify critical, high pay-off activities and prioritize them to attain goals.
  • Ability to plan strategically and to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong research and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs and experience working with research tools.
  • Working knowledge and ability to use CRMs and other digital platforms.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to edit written materials.
  • Must also be detail-oriented, well-organized, focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative.
  • Must be an independent thinker with the ability to exercise good judgement and demonstrate effective problem solving skills as well as manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Must be a persuasive and effective communicator with excellent listening skills, and great time management ability.
  • Desired:

    Higher education annual fund experience.

    Experience with research, data analysis and reporting.

    Bilingual, English and Spanish.
