UNMH Advance Practice Provider (PA, FNP, AGACNP) Neuroscience team is seeking a highly motivated and innovative leader to manage the team of APPs (Advanced Practice Providers) in the neuroscience line. Job expectations are not limited to but as follows. Rounding on each provider at regular intervals, meeting with dyad leaders to ensure clinical expectations are met, timecard management and approvals. Personal clinical activity within the service line is preferred or can be outside of it as part of your FTE. You will be working closely with the Director and other APP managers.

Position Summary:
The Manager Advanced Practice Providers is a clinical expert and team leader who acts in partnership among the APPs on their team, the clinical service line/clinic physician leadership, and the Director of Advanced Practice Providers. The role is meant to fulfill day-to-day leadership needs that arise within large teams such as workforce planning, onboarding, and scheduling. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Provides structured onboarding of new-hire APPs to the team including a written orientation plan that includes: dates of rotations on primary and secondary services, contact information of preceptors, expectations of the orientee, expectations of preceptors, a tentative schedule of benchmarks the orientee should be meeting; checks in with the new-hire at least once a week and promptly notifies the Director of APPs about any concerning feedback regarding orientee; checks in with preceptors at least every two weeks to identify any learning issues or struggles; provides a more extensive evaluation of new employees documentation/clinical decision making, etc. to identify issues proactively and support collaborating MDs and mentors who have limited time
* LIAISON - Organizes and facilitates monthly APP team meetings and represents the team at division or department-wide business meetings; identifies and leads case studies, articles, etc. for the team
* LIAISON - Facilitates communication of accomplishments, issues, and changes between the APP team and the Dyad; assists in trouble-shooting and problem solving APP team issues
* RECRUITMENT - Coordinates APP interviews with the team and physician leadership in conjunction with the Director of APPs; calls and emails applicants, the team, and physician leadership to arrange interviews; attends team interviews and assists the Director of APPs in selecting new hires
* STANDARDS – Creates and maintains the service line or clinic handbook that provides orientation and guidance to new APPs about team/clinic resources, processes and expectations
* ASSIGNMENT - Ensures scheduling requirements of the service line/clinic are met per agreement between the service line/clinic medical physician leadership and Director of APPs, including holiday coverage; send out texts and emails to assist in covering last minute uncovered shifts when an APP calls in sick (planned absence must be coordinated by the responsible APP), ensures Amion reflects schedule/calendar weekly
* COORDINATE - Is the point of contact for the service line/clinic to coordinate APP student rotations in collaboration with the Director of Advanced Practice education and Professional Development; coordinate with the Director of APPs for annual appraisals
* PATIENT CARE - Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; implement treatment, follow-up and evaluate patient within the scope of practice protocols as outlined by state statute
* PATIENT CARE - Perform patient history and physical exams as needed for procedures or admissions; document findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings
* PATIENT CARE - Complete admitting orders, daily rounds and orders, consultations with nurses, specialist and ancillary staff, discharge summary, transfers, medication management and other orders as required for the management of patient care
* PATIENT CARE - Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
* PATIENT CARE - Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic procedures and tests. Explain the necessity of preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to patient and patient’s family
* PATIENT CARE - Evaluate and revise intervention care/treatment plan with patient, family and supervising provider as necessary to achieve improved health
* PATIENT CARE - Provide education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of the prescribed medical treatment
* PATIENT CARE - Work as a team member with medical/nursing/counseling staff to provide comprehensive care and promote continuity of care
* DOCUMENTATION - Provide accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures and patient responses in the medical record and communicate them to other members of the health care team; maintain accurate, legible and confidential records
* EDUCATION - Guide, teach, support and serve as a clinical resource nursing and medical staff
* ROLE MODEL - Act as a role model through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
* RESEARCH - Support research by conducting or participating in research studies; incorporate findings in clinical practice
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"

Physical Conditions:
