Position Information

The School of Education (SOE) at UC Riverside is a nationally ranked graduate school and is home to MA, MED, and PhD programs. The Graduate Admissions Recruitment Specialist (incumbent) is the primary point of contact for all recruitment, outreach, and admissions processes for graduate programs in the SOE. Under direct supervision of the Graduate Program Administrator and in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Graduate Education, the incumbent assesses candidates' backgrounds and future academic/career goals to effectively advise them of appropriate graduate programs and research areas within the SOE as guided by the school’s equity-focused strategic plan. The incumbent demonstrates racial literacies and capacity for advising racial and economically diverse applicants on various admissions processes and criteria, documentation requirements, and onboarding activities. The incumbent will help to administer any SOE higher education program offerings to support equity and justice-based recruitment and admission activities, outreach to students and specifically traditionally underserved populations, marketing, data analytics, and program evaluation. The incumbent is expected to conduct modest travel domestically to foster institutional relationships for recruitment and outreach efforts for SOE graduate programs.

The full salary range for the Admissions Recruitment Specialist is $59,000 - $103,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $92,300 annually. This position is eligible for hybrid work. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges/universities and specifically at UC, and/or specific colleges and schools.
Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials.
Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative team environment and function as a supportive team member with academic and staff personnel at all levels.
Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. Knowledgeable in analytical skills, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to listen and respond to the needs of customers to achieve excellent customer service measured by outcomes rather than activities.
Ability to adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities in a high-volume environment.
In-depth knowledge of current public educational programs and trends.
Racial and cultural competency in working with historically marginalized communities, given that UCR is an HSI, MSI, and AANAPISI located on Indigenous lands in what we now call the Inland Empire.


Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with CRM functionality.

Ability to participate in addressing gaps in diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, anti-racism, and accessibility in the recruitment and retention of underrepresented students, and particularly Black students given identified barriers and disparities at UCR.

Ability to apply critical equity and race-focused theories and asset-based approaches that challenge traditional notions of merit into practice within the profession.

Demonstrate commitment and success in recruiting students from historically marginalized and excluded communities, especially Black and Indigenous students.
