The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. 

Are you ready to join a growing team? Hospital Maintenance is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to manage the maintenance of hospital equipment, ensuring its optimal functioning to support critical healthcare operations. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the incumbent will oversee a team of general maintenance and painter employees, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure the smooth operation of maintenance activities within the hospital. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive maintenance experience, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our facilities, while focusing on excellent customer service. 

 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Plans work activities, establishes work schedules, and determines staffing requirements for the designated work unit.
  • Assists in interviewing, selecting, promoting, and evaluating applicants and employees according to university policies and procedures.
  • Estimates job requirements, including staffing, equipment, parts, materials, and supplies for the designated work unit, and procure necessary resources.
  • Procures parts and services for areas of responsibility.
  • Trains employees in new or revised work methods and procedures and orients new employees.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of preventive maintenance programs and provide updates on new equipment and technology.
  • Manages contractors in the responsibility area and ensures compliance with safety and health standards, including The Joint Commission, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Assists in resolving employee complaints and grievances, initiates disciplinary processes when necessary.
  • Performs administrative activities, including preparing special and periodic reports, financial data management, payroll records, work orders, inventory management, and other related tasks.
  • Coordinates the flow of work or services between facilities departments and assists in resolving operating problems.
  • Responds to inquiries and concerns from the staff, building customers, visitors, patients, etc.
  • Oversees the safe operation and use of various types of electro-mechanical and power-driven equipment, inspects maintenance equipment, and facilities.
  • Stays abreast of the industry.
  • Attends safety meetings and other departmental meetings.

 

STARTING RATE OF PAY: $55,180.00-$84,000.00 (Commensurate with qualification and experience) 

 

Qualifications

 

Associate’s degree in Business, Science or a related field, post-secondary vocation OR technical two year school diploma OR master card in plumbing or electrical OR HVAC state contractor’s license OR NICET certification in industrial instrumentation and controls AND five (5) years of experience in commercial or industrial maintenance. Two (2) of the five (5) years should show successful progression in responsibilities and demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Ability to manage various financial aspects
  • Incumbent must have flexibility due to on-call requirements. Position is designated as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to work during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, regardless of the University’s closure. Employees should be prepared to travel to work during inclement weather, emphasizing the importance of their role in critical situations.
  • Required to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities that require performing tasks requiring wearing respirator and other personal protective equipment, such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), to include:
    • Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
    • Climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, and working at heights above thirty (30) feet
    • Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings in the hospital, working in confined spaces, sitting at desk, and staring at computer screen, for long periods of time, and working within extreme temperature ranges

 

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
