Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the LVN or Sr. LVN level.

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse in the Owen Clinic, the Vocational Nurse performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, provider inbox management, prior authorization, and patient education. Position requires initiative with ability to work in a busy HIV primary care practice.

The successful candidate will have experience working with mental health, substance abuse, and vulnerable populations. Must be able to prioritize critical demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Job standards are to be performed at the expert level.

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Requires knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands and work in a team environment.

  • One (1) year of Primary Care/Outpatient Ambulatory experience.
  • ACLS and/or ART.
  • Previous HIV patient care experience or experience providing care to vulnerable populations.
  • Electronic medical record experience.
  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy issued by the state of California (LVN IV).
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,410 - $88,782 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.20 - $42.52

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
