GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time permanent position in the Center for Learning Innovation that supports faculty and staff use of Illinois Tech’s learning management system. Most duties will include day-to-day support and oversight of the learning management system. This position will answer all LMS-related tickets and help instructors and students resolve questions and issues of the learning management system. In addition, this position will use his or her expertise in instructional technology and work with faculty and/or staff to develop, deliver, and effectively use digital content, tools, or related processes and procedures to help foster a high-quality digital educational experience for Illinois Tech students.
COMMUNICATIONS
Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communications skills required. This position will interact with staff, faculty, and students at all levels of the institution.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
This position has both internal and external customers – the main customer is university instructors.
Special Schedule Requirements
Position is primarily 8:30-5:00 PM. Occasional on-call or week-end hours may be required.

Education & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-3 years experience, especially Canvas and its related tools a plus.
- Experience with digital media production is a plus.
- Clear and concise writing skills
- Quick learning aptitude and understanding of complex concepts
- Self-starter who can take initiative
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- 3-5 years experience
- Knowledge of database structures
- Experience creating SQL queries
- Programming or HTML experience
Knowledge & Skills
The position must be technically savvy and interested in learning how things work and how to help instructors find solutions for their teaching needs. Technical skills must be up to date on current learning management systems, web-conferencing tools, google apps, etc. Good organizational & project management skills are a plus, as is attention to detail. Must also enjoy working with customers and is interested in developing a very pro-active, team-based work environment.
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
No budget authority. The position may supervise student staff assistants, if necessary.

Key Responsibilities


Key Responsibility
Day-to-day management and routine operation of Illinois Tech Learning Management System, Canvas. Tasks include, but are not limited to troubleshooting support issues, advising instructors of technical tools or solutions, creating tickets and communicating with the vendor when necessary to devise problem solutions. The LMS Administrator will be responsible for responding in a timely manner to all tickets escalated from the Support Desk. Will also support integrated third-party systems like Zoom, Panopto, and Respondus.

Key Responsibility
The employee will coordinate work with university partners (such as the Office of Technical Services, the Registrar’s office and individual colleges) on processes such as loading courses each semester, cross-listing courses, and custom class creation. Will coordinate and execute any system work to maintain and/or expand the LMS system automation and integration with third-party systems (like Ellucian (SunGard) Banner, Luminis, Panopto, Zoom, Blackboard Mobile, Google Apps, and LDAP). Will pull reports from the system to access usage.

Key Responsibility
Configure and modify Canvas and other tools to match Illinois Tech’s usage and policies, participate in the planning, testing and scheduling of new releases, service packs, patches, LMS server add-ons, and related activities.

Work with faculty, staff, and/or other SMEs to assist in the development and production of aspects related to the curriculum and other deliverables. Provide advice and guidance to faculty and departments in the selection and use of educational technologies.

Produce training materials and content about educational technology, pedagogy, and related topics for distribution to the Illinois Tech community via websites, newsletters, workshops, etc. Develop and deliver faculty development materials/sessions, as needed.

Coordinate and partner with OTS, Office of Technology Services, on integrations with other Illinois Tech systems such as Banner.
