Overview
Perform the design, development, installation, implementation and maintenance of Linux hardware and software systems. This position serves as one of the voices of Tandon-IT to the researcher community (Professional Researchers, and Research Faculty) and their research assistants. The Linux Administrator must identify and successfully carry out the goals and mission of Tandon-IT, effectively communicate and share these goals to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate that will be conducive to maximum productivity.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area
Required Experience:
3+ years Experience with application infrastructures in the UNIX, Linux, and Storage platforms.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years Red Hat and NetApp
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to define, document, and clearly communicate overall architecture / engineering considerations. Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-vendor environment. Strong inter-personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics, making presentations to internal groups. Able to write intricate system and user documentation. Capable of writing and explaining purchase justifications. Very comfortable with most aspects of the UNIX operating system: paging/swapping, inter-process communication, devices and device driver fundamentals, file system concepts like inode and superblock. Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts. Ability to configure NFS and NIS, use dns lookup or research to check information in the DNS. Ability to write detailed scripts in at least one, preferably two administrative languages. Ability to perform debugging and modification of C programs.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $81,000.00 to USD $99,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
