HMP611: Population Health Informatics

  • Prerequisites: HMP 668 / SI 542 / BIOINF 668 Introduction to Health Informatics or permission of instructor.
  • Advisory Prerequisites: HMP 668 / SI 542 / BIOINF 668 Introduction to Health Informatics or permission of instructor.
  • Description: This course explores the foundations of population health informatics, including information architecture; data standards and confidentiality as they pertain to population health management. This course examines key concepts related to registries, electronic health records, epidemiological databases, biosurveillance, health promotion, and quality reporting in population health management.
  • This course is cross-listed with SI611.

Responsibilities*
  • Conduct sessions weekly for this 3 credit course.
  • Grade assignments and exams
  • Conduct office hours.

Required Qualifications*

Candidate should have an advanced degree (MHSA, MPH, MHI, PhD) in information science, health informatics, health management, or other closely related field.  Candidate should have extensive knowledge of population health data sets, electronic records, health information exchange data and clinical registry data sets.  Candidate should have 10+ years of experience in increasing levels of responsibility, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Selection Process

This position will be posted for 10 days.  This appointment will be for Fall term, 2024.   Classes begin August 26 with exams as late as December 18.  This appointment will be from August 26, 2024 - December 31, 2024.   An offer for this position is expected to be made by July 1, 2024.  This appointment opportunity is subject to final approval by Health Management & Policy.
