Summary

The Gerald R Ford School of Public Policy invites applications for a half-term Intermittent Lecturer position for Fall 2024, to instruct PUBPOL 750-05:  Topics:  Effective Verbal Communication Skills for Policy Professionals.  This class will be offered Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:50pm.  This is a one-credit course which develops verbal communications skills and strategies for successful communication within the policy landscape, helps students gain an understanding of the importance of a concise, clear message and learn how to adapt that message to different audiences, be able to deliver persuasive, logical oral arguments, and helps students gain confidence, ease, and efficiency with professional communication.


Responsibilities*

Duties for this course include preparing and presenting lectures, holding weekly office hours, and other related course duties.


Required Qualifications*

The candidate must hold a master's level degree in public policy, business, communications, sociology, political science, or a closely related field. Previous teaching experience in presentation skills or business communication is preferred.

The position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
