Office of General Counsel

The Legal Affairs Assistant is responsible for providing assistance and support to and becoming a vital part of the Office of Legal Affairs, Ethics, and Compliance (OLAEC).

Significant Duties and Responsibilities include: Provide overall administrative support and guidance necessary for effective and efficient OLAEC operations.; Prepare and edit correspondence, minutes, letters, memos, charts, graphs, presentations and spreadsheets.; Plan, schedule and coordinate logistics for appointments, conferences, meetings and travel arrangements.; Assist with general office functions, such as copying, scanning and faxing.; Assists in the preparation of documents related to core OLAEC operations.; Coordinate with external counsel and other vendors to obtain and exchange information and documentation related to legal matters; Assess the urgency of situations and determine appropriate actions, monitor status of pending items and deadlines, provide follow up and keep management informed by communicating a wide variety of information.; Conduct research and information gathering.; Maintain all office systems, including case management system, filing protocols, and diary procedures.; Track, monitor, prepare, and process expense and budget reports.; Assists with special projects.; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications include:  Bachelor¿s degree and two years of administrative support experience in a university or legal office setting.; Knowledge of basic computer operations and software, such as spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and word processing.; Effective time management, customer service, and organizational skills.; Ability to multi-task and pay attention to detail.; Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

The annualized salary range for this position is $39,253- $42,784 and includes full benefits.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include: Knowledge of university and/or legal practices and procedures.; Ability to identify and solve technical and clerical problems; analyze data.; Knowledge of computer applications related to the areas of assignment.; Proficiency in and/or willingness to become proficient in computer applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Adobe, and other applications related to core OLAEC operations.; Ability to promote and maintain effective departmental and public relations.; Ability to pay attention to detail.; Ability to communicate effectively with the public, faculty, and staff.; Exceptional planning and organizational skills.; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.; Excellent written and oral communications skills.
