The School of Public Health is seeking applications for a part-time Lecturer to teach PubH 3213W Determinants of Health in Communities in person, fall semester.   (Lecturer, jobcode: 9753I).

Starting Salary Range: $10,500-$14,000, dependent upon the selected candidateâ™s relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

PubH 3213W Determinants of Health in Communities is taught in person, but the Lecturer may work remotely on course preparation, grading, etc. The successful candidate is expected to have access to a reliable internet connection for duties undertaken remotely. Work arrangements will be discussed during the interview.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

Teach PubH 3213W Determinants of Health in Communities in person, fall semester, 2024. 

  • Develop course materials such as syllabi, lectures, activities, handouts, exams, assignments, and other teaching materials (40%).
  • Deliver content and actively engage students in the classroom (40%).
  • Grade student materials, which can include exams, papers, and final projects, and submit final grades (10%).
  • Provide feedback to students and respond to student inquires via email, phone, or through virtual or in person meetings (10%).
  • These effort percentages may be adjusted as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Both an MPH and a Doctorate of Public Health or a Doctorate a related field.
  • Experience as the sole instructor for an undergraduate public health course or courses. 
  • At least 3 years of public health practice experience in a government agency or a related public health organization.
  • Ability to teach and support undergraduate public health students from a variety of communities, backgrounds, and identities.
  • Familiarity with health equity issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the learning management system CANVAS. 
  • Over 5 years of public health practice experience.
  • Experience actively engaging students in person in the classroom.
