Job Summary

The Department of Computer Science in the College of Science at Purdue University solicits applications for a staff Lecturer position. Expanding from the traditional West Lafayette campus, the Computer Science department is part of the new Purdue University in Indianapolis, a comprehensive urban campus with transformative growth for the state's land-grant university. This position will be part of the Purdue CS Lecturer team, stationed at the new Indianapolis campus. www.purdue.edu/campuses/indianapolis/.

 

The Department of Computer Science has nearly 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Many students in other majors have interest or are required to take a programming language course to fulfill degree requirements.  Annually the department teaches over 5,000 such students, and the new urban location will add to this total. Purdue University is Indiana’s land grant university, enrolling over 50,000 at its main West Lafayette campus.  The Department of Computer Science is housed in both the College of Science and the College of Engineering.

Applications need to be submitted to this site and need to include (1) a complete curriculum vitae, (2) a teaching statement that includes the teaching philosophy, interests, and experience, and (3) at least three names of references.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in a computing field with experience in software development and teaching.  A master’s degree is preferred. Applicants should be committed to excellence in teaching, have the ability to teach programming and computer science courses, have an enthusiasm for teaching and interaction with students, have an interest in both in-person and online development and delivery of courses, and have an interest in advising student team projects. The position is a non-faculty rank, staff teaching position. In addition to the training period at the West Lafayette campus, occasional travel will be required between locations.
