Position Summary
The school of Math, Science and Engineering is seeking candidates for the position of Mathematics Lecturer. Position teaches mathematics courses which may include: developmental mathematics, college algebra, college geometry, introduction to probability and statistics, precalculus, or calculus. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission.
This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed for the 2023-2024 Academic Year.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Essential Functions
  • Teach assigned mathematics courses based on approved departmental syllabi;
  • Incorporate technology into teaching, utilizing online homework system and learning management system;
  • Be available outside of class to help students learn and to answer their questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically);
  • Keep in contact with the course coordinator, primarily by email, for common assignments and exams;
  • Keep in contact with department chair and participate in meetings when requested;
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Master’s Degree in Mathematics or closely related discipline with 18 graduate hours in mathematics or statistics.
Required Work Experience
Experience teaching mathematics courses at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant professional experience in specific course outcomes.
  • Experience in facilitating online communication via email, learning management systems, and online homework platforms.
