JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus invites applications for Lecturer (master level) or Assistant Teaching Professor (doctoral level) in Biology. This is a full-time, 36 week, limited-term, multi-year (3-year) appointment beginning August 2024 or as negotiated with excellent potential for re-appointment.

Responsibilities: Teaching each semester (fall and spring). Teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to, courses and laboratories in microbiology, cell/molecular biology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology, and general biology using a range of traditional, hybrid and online delivery methods as needed. Participate in course, curriculum, and program development. Advise students and provide career guidance. Participate in campus, university, and community service activities. Engage in scholarship to stay current in the discipline. Some of these duties may require teaching day, evening and/or Saturday classes or attending an occasional weekend event, as needed.

Qualifications: This position requires a Master level for Lecturer or Doctoral level for Assistant Teaching Professor in the biological sciences (e.g. Biology, Zoology, Molecular Biology, Ecology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Botany). Commitment to high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment is desired. Interest in active and collaborative learning, the instructional use of technology, and hybrid and online teaching is an advantage. Prior college-level and online teaching experience preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching microbiology, cell/molecular biology, and/or nutrition.
