Job Summary
Gonzaga University’s Department of Nursing seeks to fill a 100% FTE, one-year, 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer beginning fall semester 2024. Gonzaga University is a Jesuit, Catholic, humanistic institution, and is interested in candidates who will contribute to its distinctive mission of educating students “for lives of leadership and service for the common good”. The department is interested in applicants with expertise in population–based nursing, or psych mental health nursing as well as experience teaching campus-based or online didactic courses and practicum/clinical courses. The ideal candidate will have the expertise to teach across all nursing programs. If hired, the candidate must be willing to relocate to the Spokane area.  
 
The BSN program is a campus-based program that is offered during fall and spring semesters. MSN and DNP didactic courses are offered online; the practicum courses for the Graduate program are arranged in students’ home communities and include intensive on-campus sessions.  Graduate programs are offered on a 12-month basis and an additional contract would be offered for any summer teaching.
Essential Functions
  • Teach 12 credits of didactic course work and/or practicum (clinical) courses per semester (Fall & Spring). With a total workload each academic year equivalent to 24 credits. 
  • Participate in departmental councils/committees, as well as School of Health Sciences committees.
  • Participate in curriculum review/revision.
  • Advise students, guiding them in meeting degree requirements and career goals.
  • Pursue relevant professional development.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in nursing.
  • Eligible for an unencumbered Washington state RN license.
  • At least two years teaching experience with undergraduate and/or graduate nursing students including didactic and practicum courses.
  • Demonstrated record of supporting students with diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about cultural competence in academic and health care settings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (DNP/PhD) in nursing
  • Experience teaching online courses.
