The Department of Physics at IU Indianapolis invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Physics, to begin August 1, 2024. IU Indianapolis was formerly IUPUI, a joint campus of Indiana and Purdue Universities in Indianapolis, but as of July 1, 2024, a realignment has resulted in the campus, and Science departments in particular, becoming a part of the newly named IU Indianapolis (https://www.iupui.edu/vision/faqs.html ). This is a non-tenure-track position and includes promotion opportunities to the ranks of Senior Lecturer and Teaching Professor. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching is a prerequisite for the position. Primary responsibilities include classroom and laboratory teaching at all undergraduate levels, course development, and departmental and university service. The ability to teach astronomy is desirable. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of effectiveness and innovation in college level teaching. The successful candidate will receive a 12-month appointment, and the duties will include teaching during the Fall, Spring and Summer terms.
The Department is especially interested in recruiting a candidate from groups that are under-represented in Physics. A Ph.D. in physics or closely related area is required.
