The University Writing Program at the University of Florida invites applications for the position of Lecturer to begin August 16, 2024. The Lecturer, working title Assistant Instructional Professor, is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal and an opportunity for advancement in UF’s lecturer track. The University Writing Program is a thriving, independent unit offering a wide range of writing-intensive courses in areas such as themed critical thinking and writing, discipline-focused writing, and professional writing. The position requires a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or in a related content area.

A significant goal of the University Writing Program is to cultivate effective visual and written communication in digital and data-driven contexts. Applicants should have expertise in communicating with data and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Visualization, Visual Rhetoric, or Scientific Writing. Professional experience will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include a strong interest in experiential learning, such as establishing student exchanges, leading study abroad courses, or pursuing community-based outreach. The teaching assignment is 4/3 with possible course release for the development of significant experiential learning initiatives.
