Lecturer in HISTORY
 The Department of History at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in History. The candidate must be able to teach a range of lower division courses in the History and Core curriculum, most importantly HIST*201: US/Discovery to Reconstruction. This course should adhere to the 2021 REACH Act calling for the reading of the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Emancipation Proclamation, a minimum of five Federalist Papers essays, and one or more documents foundational to the African American Struggle. Other possible lower division history courses include HIST*205: The Rise of Modern America and HIST*117: History of Sports and Society. All of the courses listed are offered every semester and are included in the Core Curriculum offerings to provide an educational experience in the liberal arts tradition that promotes inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking. We specifically seek candidates able to teach multiple sections within this listing of Core Curriculum courses that are also required in the History major and minor. Candidates must have at least 18-credit hours in graduate history courses and preferably a master’s degree in history or a related discipline by the position start date of August 16, 2024. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education. The teaching load is 30 credits or a 5:5 load per academic year.
