The Lecturer in Business is a full-time, 12-month academic position with release time to fulfill the duties of Graduate Program management. The position is responsible for a 6 hour per semester teaching load in business-related courses. An active program of professional development is expected, along with active involvement in service functions.
The IU Northwest School of Business & Economics employs 17 full-time faculty and its programs are fully accredited by the AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International). Faculty are very engaged in teaching and research that is applied, basic, or pedagogic. Faculty also support the economic development of the region by engaging in mutually beneficial collaborations with local organizations and community members.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching: Indiana University Northwest is a student-centered campus. Teaching is the primary mission of the campus, supported by research and service. The expected teaching load for this position is 6 credit hours per semester and 3 credits in the summer in business-related areas. Teaching responsibilities may include face-to-face and online formats, evenings, and some Saturdays. Teaching expectations include course and syllabus preparation, textbook selection, participation in assessment of student learning, working collaboratively with peers on curriculum improvement, and incorporation of high impact teaching strategies that actively engage students. Faculty are also expected to pursue professional development related to teaching effectiveness.
Graduate Program Management: A major portion of this position will be to manage administrative functions of our graduate programs to include advising, registration, orientation, academic record keeping, tracking academic progress, and data management. This position is also responsible for managing the recruiting and admissions functions for the graduate and post baccalaureate programs. It includes attending and planning recruiting events such as open houses, job fairs and graduate school fairs; establishing and maintaining contacts with area businesses; conducting recruiting interviews, processing inquiries and applications; and working with the faculty admissions committee. It may also include managing the work of support staff, graduate assistants and work-study students. Must be available to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Some travel required.
Service: Faculty members are expected to contribute their professional expertise through service to the department, campus and community at large, in a participatory, developmental, or advisory capacity. Examples include but are not limited to: committee work within the School, campus-wide committees and/or faculty governance; voluntary membership in professional and community-based organizations reasonably related to the discipline; lectures, consultations, or working with local and area agencies and organizations; support and participation in student organization activities.
Professional Development: The School of Business and Economics expects that lecturers will take an active role in their ongoing professional development in order to maintain currency in their field. This can be accomplished through professional engagement activities that involve applications to practice. Activities may include conducting a consulting practice; publication of technical reports and practice-oriented articles; presentations at professional meetings or academic conferences; pursuing continuing education in order to maintain professional certifications or licenses; creating and delivering professional education programs; serving as a member of a board of directors; assuming a leadership role in a professional association or society; and/or participation in professional workshops or conferences.

Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Business or a related field from an accredited university required.
· Experience in teaching or corporate training
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with student recruitment and advising highly desirable.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills.
· Demonstration of and commitment to facilitating student learning by using multiple pedagogical techniques in face-to-face and online interactions;
· Commitment to interacting in all ways with students that exemplify respect and accommodation to all styles of learners;
· Ability to explain complex things in a simple, easy-to-understand manner;
· Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with diverse audiences;
· Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with both internal and external audiences.
· Computer literate, knowledge of technology applications in teaching and enrollment management desirable
