Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Lecturer I, II or III and Chair for the Career Technical Education Division, a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position. Best consideration date: June 2, 2024.

Salary: Base salary for the position is $62,000. An excellent package of benefits is provided. Additionally, the position comes with an annual $8,000 SAC (special administrative component) for acting in the capacity of a division chair. There is also a $1,000 Summer Session Agreement for acting as chair during the summer, which is available but not required of the successful applicant.

Summary of duties and responsibilities: Duties will include chairing the division of Career Technical Education and teaching a limited number of career technical courses. Duties assigned to the chair would include: scheduling courses; assisting with the management and supervision of programs; hiring and evaluating faculty; promoting programs; recruiting students; creating new programs; collecting and analyzing data regarding student progress and certification; overseeing the division budget; and performing other, related duties as assigned. Will work with low-income, first generation, minority students, disabled students, students with diverse backgrounds, and veterans. Responsibilities also include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records, as well as posting and maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, curriculum development, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teaching field), departmental projects, and community service.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses as well as academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,200 each semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: 

·    Degree in a career technical field or industry credentials in a career technical field or ten years of tested experience in and industry or technical field (as per Higher Learning Commission tested experience guidelines)

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • ·         Associate or bachelor’s degree in a career technical field
  • ·         Teaching experience in a career technical field
  • ·         Experience working with business and industry partners
  • ·         Experience working with grants
  • ·         Experience building new career technical programs
  • ·         Experience recruiting faculty and students to new or existing career technical programs
  • ·         Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as                  working with broadly diverse communities.
