Job Summary
The Department of Health & Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences (CHS) at the University of Kentucky is currently accepting applications for a full-time 11-month lecturer (non-tenure eligible) faculty member to begin employment for Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. Primary duties for this position will include teaching in the Human Health Sciences and/or Clinical Leadership & Management undergraduate programs. The Human Health Sciences (HHS) & Clinical Leadership & Management (CLM) degrees are two of the three undergraduate degrees in the department. The HHS degree is a pre-professional program for students interested in healthcare careers. The HHS degree offers a liberal arts foundation designed to provide students with a comprehensive look at health care practices to complement a solid foundation in basic science. HHS graduates are prepared to pursue advanced professional degrees in healthcare, such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, athletic training, medical research, and more. Students are also being prepared for careers in patient navigation, leadership, and other graduate studies. The Clinical Leadership & Management (CLM) degree is designed to prepare healthcare leaders and administrators to lead as communicators, thinkers & problem solvers, inquirers, and collaborators. The program teaches applied skills in courses ranging from leadership to finance to human resources, and culminates with a two-course practicum sequence where classroom skills are put into action. CLM graduates are prepared for careers in hospital/clinic operations, long-term care, patient experience, health nonprofits, and healthcare policy, as well as graduate study. The primary duties of this faculty position will include teaching undergraduate courses in the HHS & CLM programs. The faculty member will also participate in curriculum development, advising/mentoring students, student admission activities, and other activities as assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair. Additional duties include participating in service across the department, college, and university levels. The anticipated effort for this position is Instruction 75-85%, Research/Scholarship 0-5%, Service 5-10%, and Professional Development 1-2% and will be considered based on an annual agreement.
Required Qualifications:
  • Earned master’s degree in health sciences or related areas. Related fields include, but are not limited to, public health, health psychology, health communication, health administration, business, public policy, public administration, social work, medical sociology, or medical anthropology.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years instructional experience in health sciences-related coursework in post-secondary education (especially undergraduates)
  • Teaching experience in healthcare leadership, business communication, healthcare quality and safety, research in health sciences, data analytics, interpersonal management competencies, social determinants of health, and/or cultural humility.
