Lecturer (FWS in STS)

The Department of Science & Technology Studies at Cornell University seeks an outstanding scholar for a three-year renewable lectureship in any area of Science & Technology. A PhD in science and technology studies (STS) or a closely related field is required. Although the position is focused on teaching, the candidate will also be fully integrated into the department’s strong research culture. 

The teaching load will be three courses per semester. Five of these will be First Year Writing Seminars (FWSs) on STS topics (historical or contemporary). (Information about FWS courses can be found here: https://knight.as.cornell.edu/fws-guidelines .) The sixth course will be a senior seminar on a topic related to the candidate’s area of research specialization. Courses can be re-taught within and across academic years, across different semesters.

Pay Ranges: $49,700-$122,000 - Actual salary offers in the College of Arts and Sciences will be based on education, experience, discipline, and relevant skills.

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.
  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.
  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)
  • Unique applicable skills.
