Fashion Design Program:
Our professional fashion design program emphasizes conceptual design, industry techniques, and practices in a skill-building curriculum. As the only Fashion Design BFA program in the Southwest region, our creative students are sought after for employment in the fashion industry nationwide. Our program is supported by access to the Texas Fashion Collection, a 20,000-piece historical collection of apparel and accessory artifacts. We serve approximately 220 fashion design majors. College of Visual Arts and Design
Considered one of the leading visual arts and design schools in the nation, UNT’s College of Visual Arts and Design is home to more than 2,650 undergraduate and graduate students in NASAD and CIDA accredited programs including the BA, BFA, MA, and MFA in art education, art history, ceramics, communication design, drawing and painting, fashion design, interaction design, interdisciplinary art and design studies, interior design, metalsmithing and jewelry, new media art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and user-experience design, with certification offered in art museum education, and a PhD offered in art education. It includes the Department of Art Education, Department of Art History, Department of Design, Foundations Program, Interdisciplinary Art and Design Studies Program, and Department of Studio Art.

Position Summary
The College of Visual Arts and Design at The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a 3-year (renewable) Lecturer in Fashion Design, beginning Fall 2024.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include design studios and the span of the fashion design curriculum. The college’s standard teaching workload for lecturer faculty is eight courses per academic year. Additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate students, service to the program, college, university, and the profession, professional development, and continued enhancement of the design department.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Fashion Design or related areas or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of fashion industry experience in design and/or production.
  • Evidence of university-level teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach all levels (upper-division and lower-division) of undergraduate courses.
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud software for digital product visualizations and presentations.
  • Proficiency in fashion illustration techniques, including digital technologies.
  • Fluency in digital product development systems, such as CLOE3D, CloSet, PLM, Gerber AccuMark, or other digital patternmaking software systems. Experience with 3D visualizations, fitting, and model development is also a benefit.
  • Fluency in designing business systems and product development strategies, including product workflows and systems tracking (such as a Product Lifecycle Management System or similar software platform).
