Position Summary | Full-Time Lecturer Position in Illustration/Drawing/Digital Media The Herron School of Art and Design at IU Indianapolis invites applications for full time lecturer track faculty in our Drawing Illustration Program. As Herron enters its 122nd year as a community engaged educational institution, we seek colleagues that will help continue our work to support and advance contemporary art and design practices and the creative economy. Herron’s Drawing and Illustration program addresses evolving creative practices that transcend disciplinary boundaries and are broadly defined by purpose rather than by media. This role will engage undergraduate students working with traditional, contemporary, and cutting-edge methodologies including animation, digital rendering, and all aspects of fields and professional paths in drawing and illustration. Students in the program employ many of the same tools used in Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Design, and other disciplines alongside an increasing array of digital and time-based media as they create content and develop skills and understanding that directly support their professional and career development. Candidates with professional experience in illustration, university-level teaching experience, strong proficiency in hands-on media and digital software, and a background in studio art will be prioritized in the selection process. Ultimately, we seek professionals with the ability to teach drawing, illustration, and digital media as creative and integrative art practices, with shared or intersecting expertise that can also contribute to engagement in other areas of the school, campus, and community. Application Deadline: January 15, 2024; open until filled The position will begin in August 2024. Salary is commensurate with experience and IU offers competitive benefits; information about which can be viewed at https://hr.iu.edu/benefits/neweeo/index.html .
