CHEM 501: Computational Physical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2024 to teach CHEM 501: Computational Physical Chemistry.

Course Description

Introduces students to computational methods as applied to some of the major theoretical ideas of Physical Chemistry. The concepts to be covered will include examples from: Classical Chemical Thermodynamics, Statistical Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, Quantum Chemistry, and/or Molecular Modeling. The course is designed to build on previous knowledge of Physical Chemistry gained at the undergraduate level.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A master's degree in chemistry
  • Experience teaching at the college-level
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A doctorate in Chemistry
  • Experience teaching a course in toxicology.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,007 - $6,069 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,007 - $12,594 per full-time month
