Candidate will primarily be responsible for teaching courses in the MS Athletic Training program (https://gcsu.smartcatalogiq.com/2023-2024/graduate-catalog/college-of-health-sciences/athletic-training-msat/).  Candidate may also teach courses in the BS Exercise Science Sports Medicine Concentration including, but not limited to: structural kinesiology; foundations of therapeutic medicine; care and prevention of athletic injuries; anatomy of human movement and other courses as SACS qualified.

This position will carry a 5/5 teaching load (15 credit hours per semester or 30 credit hours per academic year) with a possibility of summer teaching.  This position also carries some service responsibilities but with no scholarship/research requirements.  
This is a non-tenure track lecturer line.  
Lecturers are able to be promoted to Senior Lecturer after successfully filling the Lecturer role for 6 years. 
The responsibility of all lecturers at Georgia College & State University are to provide the heaviest teaching loads of 
all the faculty ranks which equates to NO responsibility for scholarship and research. 
Lecturers are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by 
providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community 
and disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, 
advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.

Ability to work collegially with others and communicate effectively with students and colleagues are 
also responsibilities of all faculty and staff hired.

Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Educational Requirements:
A terminal degree (Ph.D. or D.A.T.) in content area is required for employment.  ABD considered if terminal degree will be completed prior to employment start date.  BOC Certification with eligibility for Georgia licensure is required. Minimum of two years full-time experience as an ATC.

Preferred Qualifications:  

Higher education teaching experience; AT preceptor experience; strong communication skills; ability to work collegially and effectively; familiarity with innovative and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
