Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


This non-tenure track faculty member will teach four undergraduate courses per semester or the equivalent on a three-year renewable appointment. Course releases may be available for responsibilities such as advising American Studies minors. Although the position will primarily involve teaching and service in the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies, the selected candidate will have their appointment home in one of the fifteen departments in CHESS.
The American Studies Program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a non-tenure-track, full-time position as a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in American Studies beginning August 2024.
Candidates must have a master's degree or Ph.D. in a social science or humanities field at the time of appointment and provide evidence of ability to teach a diverse student population. We seek candidates with the ability to teach a wide range of courses in the program and experience in interdisciplinary research in American Studies.

Minimum Experience / Education:

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:


Experience in advising undergraduate students is preferred. Finalists will be asked to discuss how their teaching and advising practices engage students of different ages, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, identities, and abilities, helping to remove barriers to ensure the success of all students regardless of their entry pathway into the university.
