Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management’s Learning Experience Designer (LED) will be a primary point of contact for best practices in teaching and learning, use of instructional technologies, course development, and quality assessment of individual courses. The LED will assist in execution of the college’s strategic plans for course and program growth and enhancement by creating a repository of resources as well as providing training, coaching, and assisting faculty in developing and delivering pedagogically-sound courses in a variety of formats, including but not limited to face-to-face, online, blended, and Flex delivery methods. The LED will also work with faculty in the use of varied learning technologies and building courses within the university’s LMS platforms.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2 or more years of instructional design related experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in related field and 2 or more years of experience in online, face-to-face, and blended course development and coaching in use of instructional technology in higher education.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge - High level of familiarity in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) in higher education, best practices for online learning, adult learning theory (andragogy), and quality assessment models.
Skills - Demonstrated competence in coaching faculty in course development and use of instructional technology; Proficiency in use of varied learning technologies and LMS platforms used in higher education.
Abilities - Service-orientation in working with a variety of constituents, often on a time-compressed schedule; Sound judgment and ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision; Creative and collaborative solution-finding.
Other – Experience/certification in quality review of courses is a plus.
