What You'll Do

The Center for Academic Innovation at the University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Learning Experience Design Post-Graduate Fellow to support our learning experience design team in the development of short open online courses. This role will support the development of courses about generative AI by helping design teams craft instructional materials, explore ways in which generative AI tools can support the instructional design process, and document new project workflows for short courses. This role will report to a Learning Experience Design Senior on the Blended and Online Learning Design team. About the Center for Academic Innovation

About the Learning Experience Design Team

The Learning Experience Design team works within the intersection of design, pedagogy, and educational technology. As modes of teaching are constantly evolving, we help instructors understand the possibilities of hybrid, online, and self-paced learning approaches. Our team of learning experience designers work with our faculty partners to deliver quality, immersive learning experiences, helping them transform learning goals into dynamic online learning experiences designed to meet the diverse needs of a global network of learners.


Responsibilities*
  • Creating visually appealing slides for faculty members on a tight timeline
  • Supporting the design and implementation of new learning design process related to GenAI 
  • Building and testing courses on the massive open online course platform Coursera
  • Ensure instructional materials meet accessibility standards, copyright requirements, and branding consistency with existing University of Michigan courses.
  • Documenting how to use new GenAI tools
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*
  • Master's degree
  • Basic knowledge of instructional design, digital education, educational technologies and digital accessibility in online education
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently on assigned tasks
  • General understanding of how to use existing generative AI tools
  • Proficient in using the Google and Adobe Suite.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements and priorities
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability

Additional Information

Please Note: This is a 1-year term-limited position.

This is not a remote position and any adjustments to a standard in-person schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

The salary for this position will be based on the selected candidate's education and experience. Excellent benefits are available, for details, see http://benefits.umich.edu/

Salary Information

The general salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000. Candidates can expect to be paid a competitive and equitable salary. Factors used to determine salary include education level, experience, knowledge and skills for the position and internal equity within the unit. All candidates are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor alignment and transparency throughout the recruiting process.


Background Screening
