Position Summary
Provide maintenance and repair on Utility Plants, Utility distribution systems, and related equipment including locating, diagnosing, and making repairs to insure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all equipment. Manage the preventative maintenance program and facilitate the distribution of preventative maintenance and one-time work orders to the Utility Technicians. Maintain the overall work schedules and on-call schedule assignments. Serves as a source of institutional knowledge of the various central utility and distribution systems on site. Provides select training on operating and servicing boilers, chillers and the auxiliary equipment to the less experienced Utility Technicians. Supports new capital projects and Maintenance Reserve projects in the Central Utilities area.
Conditions of Employment
This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department,
position will require reporting to work when the university is officially closed and is subject to overtime. Incumbent will be required to participate in Facilities Management on-call program.
EPA Universal Refrigerant License or must be able to obtain within 6 months of accepting position.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant License or must be able to obtain within 6 months of accepting the position.
  • Experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, gauges, and equipment used for Boilers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, and Valves maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of Utility Plants and distribution systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with meters, gauges, and tools used in electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience with computers and automation systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing and repairing Utility Plants, Utility distribution systems, and related equipment.
  • Experience or knowledge to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Prior experience training less skilled technicians.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Good communication skills.

Advertised Pay Range Up to $65,000; commensurate with experience.
