Job Summary

The Lead Neurodiagnostic Technologist, under minimal direction participates as an integral member of the Neurology, Neurodiagnostic, and Neuro-Ophthalmology team by performing routine and complex VEP, SSEP, OCT, Visual Fields, and other MS/Neurology testing as indicated to be performed in the outpatient setting. This individual will perform testing, collect data, and prep reports to be reviewed and finalized by the medical faculty.  They will ensure the timely closures of reports and escalate any urgent findings to Neuro-Ophthalmology medical director.  The lead technologist has the responsibility to train and evaluate clinical competency for all other technologist, identify continuous improvement initiatives to gain efficiency in volume and quality of procedures & testing, maintain & take lead on recommendations for repair, replace, and upgrades (hardware/software).

Required Qualifications

  • Registered in one or more modalities. EEG and/or Evoked Potential Technologist (R. EEGT./R. EPT.) CLTM, CNIM
  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of training and experience
  • At least four years of experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist
  • Demonstrated competency in performing complex EEG's as well as in one or modalities such as EP, LTM, EMU etc.
  • At least three years' experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience with computerized and diagnostic medical equipment
  • Previous mentoring and teaching experience
  • Possession of a high school diploma
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skill in dealing with patients, family, caregivers, physicians, and clinical staff
  • Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and online communication
  • Extremely proficient in with Neurodiagnostics software applications
  • Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills
  • Knowledge and practice of electrical safety relevant to Neurodiagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work variable shifts and locations
  • Demonstrates ability to be an independent, motivated self-starter
  • This position requires the flexibility to orient and work in all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team
  • Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment
  • Prior experience in neuroscience research environment

License/Certification

  • Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) or Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R.EPT) or Registered CLTM or Registered CNIM
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
