Minimum Position Qualifications
A minimum of two (2) years of custodial related experience or one (1) year previous related UofM experience. Must be able to read and follow written instructions in the proper execution of assigned tasks.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Duties & Responsibilities
Performs general functions such as cleaning windows and glass (inside/outside), mirrors, woodwork, screens, cove base, thresholds, and kick plates. Sanitizes toilets, mirrors, restrooms, fixtures, doorknobs and handles. Checks and refills toilet paper, paper towel, sanitary napkin, and soap dispensers. Washes and dries laundry, rags and rugs as needed. Replenishes bathroom supplies. Maintains custodial areas/closets, carts, equipment and supplies in a neat, clean, and orderly manner. Maintains equipment and supplies in clean, good operating condition. Reports all building required repairs, safety, and fire hazards to supervisor.

Performs specialized clean-up, fogging and sanitizing buildings due to pandemics, disasters, etc., as specified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
Dusts surfaces, ceilings, HVAC vents, furniture, equipment, shelves, curtains and blinds. Vacuums, sweeps, cleans carpet, dust mops and mops floors. Responds to emergency calls involving floods or other cleanup efforts and assists in coordinating and cleaning up spills, leaks and floods, as needed. Operates walk-behind and ride-on floor care equipment/machines (low speed, high speed, and ultra-high speed) to strip, wax, and buff hard floors.

Collects and removes trash/recycle materials from inside and the outside perimeter of the buildings, including emptying of wastebaskets from offices, classrooms, public areas, and restrooms. Removes leaves, debris, ice and snow from building entrances, walkways, porches, and stairs.

Repairs minor plumbing issues such as unclogging pipes and/or replaces restroom plumbing fixtures as needed. Performs minor electrical repairs such as ballasts, light switches, outlets, and bulbs.

Assembles and/or sets-up furniture and assists in the set-up and takedown of tables and chairs. Assists with deliveries, movement, and storage of supplies in different locations as needed.

Assists the supervisor in the monitoring of daily operations and in addressing and responding to customer complaints and issues when needed and in the absence of the Supervisor. Answers questions and provides information to staff, faculty, students, and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Attends department and other related meetings including training classes.
