Law Enforcement Officer
Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Law Enforcement Officer in the Department of Public Safety.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Proactively patrols assigned areas and observes for criminal and traffic violations and/or other suspicious activity.
· Enforces University rules, state and local laws, issues citations and/or makes arrests in accordance with the law and the general orders.
· Conducts investigations on accidents and criminal activity, secures, preserves and compiles evidence.
· Develops partnerships with law enforcement and the community through several community-oriented policing initiatives.
· Makes timely documentation of all enforcement and investigative activities and incidents.
· Respond to emergencies in a safe manner and as quickly and as possible while exercising due care for everyone.
Requirements: A high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited high school is required. A satisfactory driving record and clear criminal history is also required. South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Law Enforcement Officer Class I certification is preferred. A successful candidate must be eligible to/and obtain certification from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy Basic Training Course for police or be a certified police officer in the state of South Carolina. Incumbent must have or be able to obtain a valid SC driver’s license.

Law Enforcement Officer II (JC20/61121682/ FTE-S00951P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Salary range: $37,860.00 (minimum) – $53,957.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours vary. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent. Satisfactory driving history, no criminal history.
Preferred Qualifications
South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Law Enforcement Officer Class I certification is preferred.
Licensure and/or Certification
Must be eligible to/and obtain certification from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy Basic Training Course for police or be a certified police officer in the state of South Carolina. Incumbent must have or be able to obtain a valid SC driver’s license.

Must possess good verbal and written skills. Ability to interact successfully within a diverse academic community. An employee needs to have an understanding that many young adults require guidance and tolerance rather than sterner measures.
