Position Description
The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University anticipates a possible opening for a full-time Language Instructor/Teaching Assistant in Vietnamese expected to begin July 1st, 2024, and to extend through June 30, 2025. The language instructor co-teaches Vietnamese language courses of various levels with a course head and assists the course head in preparing class materials, grading, and providing individual assistance to students. The language instructor also helps organize extra-curriculum activities such as the language table events and supports the outreach effort of the Vietnamese Language Program. 
Should this opening become available, this will be a term appointment for one year, with the possibility of renewal dependent on performance and curricular need.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have native or near-native fluency in all modalities of Vietnamese (reading, writing, listening, and speaking); high proficiency in communicating in English both verbally and in written form, a bachelor’s degree or higher in second language pedagogy or relevant fields; and experience teaching Vietnamese. Preferably, the candidates have experience teaching Vietnamese to both non-heritage and heritage learners of all levels of proficiency. A working knowledge of instructional technology, and experience with organizing extra curriculum events is an advantage.
